A Lancaster County Wedding Invitation

11Oct

Hey, it’s another wedding invitation to show you! This letterpress invite is none other than my sister’s, the inspiration for me to go into letterpress printing to begin with. She and her husband wanted their invitations to have a theme of Lancaster County, PA surroundings where their wedding would take place. This was traditional PA Dutch folk motifs which I designed in little more “modern” way.

They turned out to be bright, colorful and fun – don’t you think?

A pink pop wedding invitation

06Oct

(If you haven’t noticed already, I’m on a kick to photograph the letterpress invitations that I’ve created…there’s more to come)

Here’s a wedding invitation that is elegant but with a playful pop of pink that I’d like to share with you today. I letterpress printed the invitations on 100% cotton paper using my antique Sigwalt table top press. Enjoy!

{ PS. I will always be grateful and inspired by Steve Jobs ideas and words everyday. }

My wedding invitations

04Oct

Here we go, the ridiculously late post of my wedding invitations. Whew. What I wanted for my invitations was a multi-layered textured piece and that had a feeling of opening a present.

I found these beautiful botanical illustrations from an old book and used them throughout the whole wedding. They were my inspiration. So I first used them on fabric where the outer “booklet” piece was lined with. Then I used the illustrations for the envelope liner as well as the address stickers. (PS. Here’s the DIY for printing on fabric using your inkjet printer!)

I then created little pockets and used a blind impression of a leaf pattern. This holds the RSVP card and envelope as well as the details card. The main invitation was adhered to the outer booklet so it’d all stay in place when opening. Then, I used lace ribbon to create a belly band to bundle it all up and added a quote tag from one of our favorite guys. Enjoy!

You can view the entire gallery on my Flickr page too! (Which I think the colors are much more vibrant than here for some reason…)

My Save the Dates

03Oct

Finally! These Save the Dates that I designed and letterpress printed took a lot of time and effort since I did them on my tabletop Sigwalt press. After printing, I stitched the belly band on either side with light lavender thread. Matching them with kraft brown envelopes with our return address letterpress printed, these invites set the tone for the wedding.

Enjoy!

Silver & gold letterpress wedding invite

28Sep

I recently had the opportunity to design and letterpress print wedding invitations for a super great couple, Melissa & Jason. The top design element of the piece was inspired by the belt on Melissa’s gown, a beautiful way to tie everything together. With silver and gold metallic inks and extra thick paper, this oversize invitation brought out a beautiful elegance which I am sure translated into the rest of their wedding.

Engagement photos with a twist

Ok, this just made me laugh so I had to make a post…

Our Wedding

30Aug

As promised… photos from our wedding which took place exactly a month ago. The wedding took place in our hometown in Pennsylvania and our fabulous photographers, a husband and wife team of Brooke Courtney, really captured it all.

I copied Princess Kate’s idea of bringing the outdoors in for our ceremony with shrubbery and small trees at the front of the sanctuary.

The reception was under a tent at a historic 18th century home where we had kebabs and corn on the cob, cookies and ice cream. A couple of deer made anĀ appearance at twilight in the meadow nearby, as well as the barn cat who did not like getting her photo taken.

Dancing to the Swingin’ Swamis, we boogied under the stars and twinkle lights. A magical day.
