I’m looking for a rug in my studio because it’s just laminate squares over concrete (cold feet!) and just naturally started to look on Etsy. I veered my search a bit and looked into the vintage section and found some great rugs (but not for the studio…too nice for that. Ink, grease, ink, oil, ink, ink…).
I never would have thought to look on Etsy but there are a lot of great and reasonably priced oriental and kilim rugs. And a few kitschy ones if you’re into that. What I like about oriental/kilim rugs is that the older and more worn they are, the prettier. At least to me. And buying an antique or vintage rug also means…recycling! Yay!

Now I know that there’s nothing like a classic Christmas tree but, you’ve got to admit, these book trees are pretty clever, no?

Emily Anderson, designer, and author of Eco-Chic Home, created this “fils de fer compote”, container to hold berries made from wire hangers. Isn’t that cool? When I first saw it, it looked so snazzy and chic and when I read that it was made from a hanger, I was blown away.
The DIY instructions are in Emily’s Eco-Chic book ( on my wish list…) or you can check out her Etsy shop and buy it.

Here’s some print and pattern love for Bird Mafia shop. The shop even has bear pillows — that sold it for me!

There are other goodies in the shop and all are eco-friendly ( yay! )

I’m feelin’ these wool-felted “SoftBowls” by Mio Culture. They’re produced using less than one tenth of the energy needed to create their ceramic counterparts and they look so fun! Now can they come in a blue?

I’m a nature-y gal and love to incorporate natural elements into my dwellings. It just feels so comfortable and relaxing. I love all of these ideas of using wood in different ways to decorate your home:

Timber walls found via Trendir
Log jar display (It’s a DIY!) found via design*sponge.
Wooden branch design door
And how can you not love the indoor “tree” like this one found via Remodelista? Using branches as part of the decor is so easy and beautiful.

I believe this magazine’s inaugural issue came out last fall. I found it awhile ago on re-nest and just re-discovered it while rifling through my desktop. (Spring cleaning!)

It’s called Green Craft Magazine and I believe the name says it all. I bet there’s lots of great inspiration and lovely finds in there. Too bad it’s only bi-annually!
