Paper letters

Holy cow these are amazing. I want them in my house…wouldn’t they make an amazing wall display? Yes please.

Created by artist Sabeena…check out the rest of the letters here (she only went to “S” though..)

Envelope liners

01Nov

I just love me some envelope liners. It’s such an easy way to give those notes or invitations that extra “umph!”. Plus, you can go nuts with it – patterns, photograph, vintage book illustrations, maps…

Oh and here’s a DIY on how to make your own. Although, I just use a gluestick and it seems to work well.

Nikki McClure

26Oct

While in Portland last week, I stumbled upon a great little museum, Museum of Contemporary Craft. If you’re in the area, go visit! Especially because right now there is thee first exhibition of artist, Nikki McClure.

Pacific Northwest artist McClure creates amazing paper cut pieces using just an Xacto knife of scenes based on her everyday life.

We weren’t allowed to take photos of the exhibit unfortunately but I wish I could show you how her pieces were so intricate and had this ‘shadow’ effect when the lights from the museum hit them perfectly.

I just love the perspective she uses and how she takes a simple scene into something else. She also has a few children’s books, notecards and calendars as well which would make perfect gifts.

Little world

25Aug

Artist Terada Mokei from Japan creates these beautiful little worlds. Starting off creating tiny architectural models at a firm, he developed this “paper pop-up” way of making models. And now he makes coasters as well. Aren’t they so delicately beautiful? Check out the rest of the little world he created.

Paper shops in Kyoto

13Jul

Australian gal, Justine, of Upon A Fold visited Kyoto’s paper stores. Oh man. I’ve been crazy to go to Japan since who knows when and we just about booked it for our honeymoon but changed our minds at the last minute. Probably because Kevin would know that I’d be ignoring him due to all of this:

Such lovely eye candy…

Paper bunnies

22Apr

Going home this weekend for Easter celebrations! I wanted to post a gazillion illustrated, printed, sewn, sculpted, bunnies today because  I kinda go ga-ga over bunnies in design. But I restrained myself and just am showing you these lovely origami bunny cake toppers made by The UnBirthday Party. Don’t you think these would be great toppers at a baby shower?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Paper rucksack

12Apr

When I saw this bag, I was very drawn to it. Guess what it’s made from? Paper! Can you believe it? It’s made by a Japanese company, Siwa, who makes their own paper and fabricates them into wearable items. I wish I could read Japanese to learn more about the process on their website!
