I don’t know why, but I’m not much of a purse person, I’m more of a bag lady. So I love these Japanese biodegradable totes — They’re super resistant, recyclable (although, why would you ever throw them away?) and have such pretty pleats and colors. You can buy them on my new favorite Japanese product source here.

When I saw this bag, I was very drawn to it. Guess what it’s made from? Paper! Can you believe it? It’s made by a Japanese company, Siwa, who makes their own paper and fabricates them into wearable items. I wish I could read Japanese to learn more about the process on their website!

Just sending out a little love for Japan this morning with these beauties that have been stored on my computer forever because I loved them so much.
Japanese food titles poster — the pork title is hilarious but my favorite is the honey.
Also, these Kusaki towels are so so lovely. The color is created from natural materials – like chamomile and olive leaves and it’s all organic cotton. I think they would be perfectly cute as baby towels with their soft colors and natural materials. Although they’d seem almost too nice for that…

I just felt like I couldn’t post about anything else today with the news of the 8.9 earthquake that struck Japan and triggered a large tsunami. Japan is near and dear to my heart ( we almost went there for our honeymoon) so it’s crazy to see what’s happening. Ten million Toyko residents with no power, no subway…no one knowing what to do. It’s going to be interesting to see how everything will be unveiled throughout the day and weekend.

Even though I don’t know Japansese, I want this. I want it bad. How fun is this? Each Japanese Hiragana character has its own long block and they’re all neatly stored together. There’s even a smiley face. It wouldn’t be half as fun if it was the Roman alphabet, you know?
I’d end up writing nonsense though…or awful things by mistake. It just looks so graphically cool (probably to someone who reads Japanese doesn’t think much of this though..or maybe they do?)
There’s also a Japanese Katakana version available as well.
