Emily Henderson – Holiday Guide

04Nov

I know, I know… I just posted something about the holidays and now I’m going to post more and it’s only November 4? Yes, that’s right. Because I {heart} this time of year, as I’m sure you do too!

And, Emily Henderson came out with a Holiday Guide that is so fantastic and drool-worthy, that I just had to share. Plus, I just love that woman. She’s hilarious and has the best style.

There’s about 238 pages of decor ideas, DIYs, gift giving — from Emily and a team of contributors. So settle in for an hour and enjoy.

Happy weekend!

Memory game

05Jan

This is one of those, “Why didn’t I think of that?” products that I discovered. A letterpress memory game! I used to LOVE this game as a kid (and, gotta admit, kinda rocked at it).

I love the images too (and there’s even a Chandler&Price press image!). The box is even printed. I’m thoroughly impressed and inspired. Designed and created by 4 Hounds Press.

Last minute details

20Dec

Last week before Christmas! And there’s lots to do. As I was rummaging around my apartment this weekend searching for boxes to put my gifts in, I should have made these: fabric origami boxes. They would have been perfect! Plus, they’re guaranteed to be re-used again :) Here are the instructions to make one yourself.

Holiday wrap

15Dec

With Christmas just over a week away, here are some last minute ideas for packaging up your gifts — because packaging it up beautifully is half the gift (And, if you need proof, just play a “white elephant gift swap”…everyone goes for the pretty packaging)!

Like this kraft and candy stripe bag to hold little goodies or gift cards from the shop of Zoe Tropa.

Try using a garland as ribbon like this felt ball garland from Made Mary.

A 5-pointed paper snowflake dresses up any gift. Instructions found here.

Using pieces of bunched fabric to create flowers and ribbon. I love the neutral colors! Instructions found here.

And…when in doubt or want to save some dough, use nature, like this spring of evergreen and pine cones, to decorate!

Hope this helps for all your wrapping needs — Send a photo of your completed pretty packages!

A Scandinavian Christmas

09Dec

When I think of a Scandinavian Christmas, I think simple and clean with a traditional folk and rustic style. Plus, all of the red! All of that I love. Want a Scandinavian Christmas? I’ve collected a few Scandinavian-inspired holiday treasures to share them with you.

These two Christmas stockings to hang by the fire:

A screen-printed stocking printed in a deep red fromĀ  Robin and Mould.

A traditional bird inspired screen-printed on either a chocolate or a light red by Roddy and Ginger shop.

A pine and wheat garland. So simple but so naturally beautiful. { image via Country Living }

Embellishment ribbon trim to wrap around a tree, presents, form into an ornament, etc. Found in the Tialys shop

Sweet Scandinavian handmade horse ornaments by Two Hungry Blackbirds

Hanging festive natural elements (or ornaments) from a tree branch (look on the wall in the back):

Advent round up

01Dec

It’s December 1 which means there are only 25 days until Christmas! I thought I’d share some creative and beautiful advent calendars that I found. Maybe you’ll be inspired to make one yourself!

1. Advent tree DIY made by The Red Thread. Each cone is a day and is filled with a treat. So pretty!

2. Advent envelopes found from designspongeonline. A classic and easy way to share a special message each day.

3. Love this pinboard advent calendar found on Design Crush. (Love the ornaments too!)

4. Advent boxes — Also a simple but beautiful project. I love how the numbers are all different styles too.

DIY drawstring bag

16Nov

My eyes seem to draw to DIYs lately, maybe because I’m dreaming of the day where I actually have the time to create. I think you’ll like this one a lot.

This DIY drawstring bag with image transfer is such a simple but special way to package upcoming gifts for the holidays:

First, how to make the drawstring bag. You can use any scrap piece of fabric, old clothes, etc:

You can find the step-by-step instructions here.

And How About Orange Blog took the drawstring bag instructions and took it a step further by adding an image transfer:

You’ll need, 1. laser-printed image 2. Acrylic Gel medium. It looks super easy and you can find the complete instructions here.

I definitely want to try this sometime. I love how How About Orange used bakers twine for the string too!
