I’m looking for a rug in my studio because it’s just laminate squares over concrete (cold feet!) and just naturally started to look on Etsy. I veered my search a bit and looked into the vintage section and found some great rugs (but not for the studio…too nice for that. Ink, grease, ink, oil, ink, ink…).
I never would have thought to look on Etsy but there are a lot of great and reasonably priced oriental and kilim rugs. And a few kitschy ones if you’re into that. What I like about oriental/kilim rugs is that the older and more worn they are, the prettier. At least to me. And buying an antique or vintage rug also means…recycling! Yay!
Indian block printing. Beautiful, amazing. I can’t believe the intricacy that they achieve in the patterns with such a simple tool and method. Watch it and you’ll fall in love.
A sneak peek! I wanted to show you all some detail of the outside section of my wedding invitations. Nothing too crazy yet as the full reveal will arrive eventually (I know, I’m being such a tease) and you’ll see it in all its letterpress glory, but this is fun too:
I wanted to play a lot with textures so I incorporated fabric and lace as well as letterpress (which you’ll see later). I also didn’t want to have to be a slave to colors with a “wedding color theme” but I did stick to a sort of garden/nature theme with a violet color consistently throughout. More coming later!
Also, these Kusaki towels are so so lovely. The color is created from natural materials – like chamomile and olive leaves and it’s all organic cotton. I think they would be perfectly cute as baby towels with their soft colors and natural materials. Although they’d seem almost too nice for that…
Hand-dyed cotton twine and calico fabric all on wooden spools. Don’t they look so beautiful that you just want to display them and not use them? They’re from Olive Mama shop along with other elegant items and crafty supplies. The Calico ribbon is giving me ideas about wedding invitations…
