Weeeeekend!

27May

I am unrealistically excited for the weekend. Why? Well, it’s a long weekend (yay!) and… I’ll be finishing up and mailing our wedding invitations (finally!) and… moving to a new apartment (yipes!). Lots to do and I can’t wait to do them.

For all of those who are also just hanging around this weekend, check out some of these fun links:

1. A new HGTV show, Secrets from a Stylist, Emily Henderson, is my new favorite show. I absolutely LOVE her styling. I’ve never been that jazzed about other stylists on HGTV, but she totally gets it and has the BEST styling ideas. You can watch full episodes here. Plus, she’s super quirky and funny (ok, I admit, I have a total girl crush on her in case you couldn’t tell).

2. This delicious-looking strawberry mint spritzer recipe to keep you cool this weekend

3. A scratch off map of the world. Scratch off where you’ve been!

{I can’t find the source of the image above unfortunately. Also, I do not condone wild animals as pets. But this image is pretty darn cute.}

Bear carving

05May

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about bears… but this is something to show you all. A carved piece by Cole Gerst, who is a pretty amazing artist.

It looks so tribal and ancient but modern at the same time.  He creates a lot of other paintings and prints featuring animals as well which I love.

Spring Bear

13Dec

Hm, I think I found my doppelganger for a love of bears at Lizzy Stewart’s shop. Her hand printed pieces have a sweet and folky style. Of course, “Spring Bear” is my favorite:

Some of my other favorites in her shop include, “Flora and Fauna”:

And “In My Room” gocco print:

(And yes, I need to fire my gocco printer! I still have not tried it yet (so busy) and I’m sure I will love it. )

We like bears

Finding an artist who seems to loves bears just as much as I do is a treat. Japanese illustrator and crafter, I Like Sleeping portrays bears in numerous mediums but I love the illustrations:

Bear sightings in Shenandoah

21Jun

I was one Happy Camper this weekend at Shenandoah National Park. Want to know why? Not only did my family and I did some great hiking with gorgeous vistas, we saw bears! And not just one, four! And not just adults but two cubs!Happy-camper-bear

bear-cub-happy-camperWe even were stopped by one along the trail who ran up a tree! We saw the cubs wrestle with one another, try to turn up rocks for insects and follow their mother who happened to be following the Appalachian Trail. I was in heaven.

Here are some more photos highlighting the beauty of the park:

I would LOVE to have this heavy-duty cardboard bear bookcase
joepolarbearbookcase_largeWhat a piece standing just over 5 feet high with a weight stating “very heavy”. :) With that bookcase, you’ll need to display your favorite bear book:

mischka(found here)
And, you’ll need a light to read it…

Winged Wheel Stationery from Japan. My dear friend, Reshma, told me about this company and I just had to post their beautiful work. They also have a paper of the month club. How cool is that?60215524_602
