Thanks!

16Nov

Thank you so much for the overwhelming response here and on Facebook about the launch of Bears Eat Berries. It means the world!

I’ve been printing up a storm lately, using lots of green and red (getting ready!)…

…and gold. (yes, there is a piece of glass between the ink and my wooden table…)

An annoucement

15Nov

Yes it’s official! So official, in fact, that I’m registered with the IRS! Yikes!

Introducing, my new business and adventure… Bears Eat Berries Press! I finally took the plunge and started a letterpress business for real. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for over a year now but the timing is finally right.

My passion for letterpress is something that I need to follow… so I’m all in. As a trained and experienced graphic designer, I have always been drawn to real, touchable, and beautifully designed paper products… so needless to say, letterpress printing just fit the bill.

So, what’s new? Well… lots!

• Hey, I have a name and logo! Bears Eat Berries Press. Like it?

• As you can see, I updated my blog and gave it a new, snazzy look. From today on… you’ll find me continually posting the design inspiration that I find everyday and you’ll also enjoy updates on my latest letterpress projects.

• I’m developing a new website including lots of new info, and how to buy my letterpress goods.

• I’m seconds away from an Etsy shop with new cards and paper goodies (including holiday cards!).

• I’m all over the internet now! You can now follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flickr. It’ll be fun. I promise.

Don’t forget to share with your friends and family about Bears Eat Berries Press too because don’t they deserve some beautiful, custom letterpress paper goods?

Thanks to you all who already have been following Happy Camper and to the new followers of this blog. I can’t wait to share my work  and continue to make your days more inspired.

Busy at the press

09Nov

It’s been busy with the press lately! I’m trying to get the holiday cards up and running and to reveal my newest announcement soon.

Another little sneak peek of holiday cards? Well, I’m a tease. Sorry. But I promise you I will show you everything really soon.

Holiday sneak peek

03Nov

Oh I know.. I’m such a tease. And it’s only November 3. But, aren’t you excited for the holidays?

I just finished the first batch of some holiday letterpress paper goods and I can’t wait to show you the entire collection!

And, I also have some bigger surprises up my sleeve to announce soon…

A Lancaster County Wedding Invitation

11Oct

Hey, it’s another wedding invitation to show you! This letterpress invite is none other than my sister’s, the inspiration for me to go into letterpress printing to begin with. She and her husband wanted their invitations to have a theme of Lancaster County, PA surroundings where their wedding would take place. This was traditional PA Dutch folk motifs which I designed in little more “modern” way.

They turned out to be bright, colorful and fun – don’t you think?

A pink pop wedding invitation

06Oct

(If you haven’t noticed already, I’m on a kick to photograph the letterpress invitations that I’ve created…there’s more to come)

Here’s a wedding invitation that is elegant but with a playful pop of pink that I’d like to share with you today. I letterpress printed the invitations on 100% cotton paper using my antique Sigwalt table top press. Enjoy!

{ PS. I will always be grateful and inspired by Steve Jobs ideas and words everyday. }

My wedding invitations

04Oct

Here we go, the ridiculously late post of my wedding invitations. Whew. What I wanted for my invitations was a multi-layered textured piece and that had a feeling of opening a present.

I found these beautiful botanical illustrations from an old book and used them throughout the whole wedding. They were my inspiration. So I first used them on fabric where the outer “booklet” piece was lined with. Then I used the illustrations for the envelope liner as well as the address stickers. (PS. Here’s the DIY for printing on fabric using your inkjet printer!)

I then created little pockets and used a blind impression of a leaf pattern. This holds the RSVP card and envelope as well as the details card. The main invitation was adhered to the outer booklet so it’d all stay in place when opening. Then, I used lace ribbon to create a belly band to bundle it all up and added a quote tag from one of our favorite guys. Enjoy!

You can view the entire gallery on my Flickr page too! (Which I think the colors are much more vibrant than here for some reason…)
